When I started coaching the high school sailing team at The Prout School in Wakefield, Rhode Island seven years ago, I was astounded to learn the sailing season stopped at the end of May. Just when the kids were getting comfortable in the boats, camaraderie was building and I was remembering who was who, it all stopped.
Over the course of the next couple of years as I gained my sea legs in this new, to me, arena, I also became involved with the Junior Safety at Sea Seminars presented by the Storm Trysail Foundation. Then the Ida Lewis ...
This weekend is Bart’s Bash – the world’s largest celebration of sailing, in honor of Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, a friend and mentor to so many in the America’s Cup family.

Sheboygan, WI (September 18, 2016) - The Women’s International Match Racing Series (WIM Series) midway event, the Buddy Melges Challenge, will be held September 21 – 25, 2016 in Sheboygan. With a line-up of nine teams from six countries, the event also holds World Sailing status as the 2016 Women’s World Match Racing Championship. Swedish World #1 Anna Östling sits at the top of the WIM Series leaderboard, after two back-to-back victories in the previous events in Helsinki, Finland and Lysekil, Sweden. Full Story.
